WITH THEIR COMPANIONS THEY SPENT THE WINTER THERE, CREATING THE FIRST EUROPEAN SETTLEMENT ON THE NORTH AMERICAN CONTINENT NORTH OF FLORIDA, AND FOUNDING THE FRENCH COLONY OF ACADIA. THIS BOOK TRACES THE HISTORY OF THE ISLAND FROM 1604 UNTIL 1945.
