Ships of St.
Martins" by Esther Clark Wright
An out-of-print and hard-to-find small book packed with information on
shipbuilding in the village of St. Martins on the south
coast of New Brunswick between 1800 and 1899 when St. Martins was
an important port for the building of wooden ships. A ten-page
historical outline is followed by a two-page resume in French and a
twenty-seven page
schedule of vessels under the following headings: Name, Rigging,
Tonnage,
Builder, and Disposal (or facts known concerning the ship's career).
Also map, graph, and bibliography. Black & white illustrations
include
a page showing the differences in rigging among ships, barques, brigs,
barquentines, brigantines, schooners, and sloops. SURNAMES found
